Berthold Direct Inc, this companay is located in Chicago, IL, and was/is run by Harvey and Melissa Hunt. It was acquired by Monotype in 2011. The font collection is aristocrated, unpolluted by grunge and cheap thrills, featuring many well-known text type families. On the other hand, typophiles all over the world are aghast at the marketing strategies of Berthold. The fonts, all having "BE" or "BQ" in the font names, originated from Berthold AG in Germany, a company that went bankrupt. Some people argue that the Chicago-based Berthold has no rights to the old Berthold AG collection---a fact documented by Uli Stiehl. But most importantly, the Hunts became famous because of the numerous lawsuits typically related to the selection of font names too close to names in their collection.

For many years, on and off between about 1970 and his death in 2009, Günter Gerhard Lange was the typographic director [of Berthold Direct Corp, and its German "predecessor" Berthold]. Lange, along with Bernd Möllenst�dt and Dieter Hofrichter, formed the core of Berthold's Type Atelier located in München to continue the development of the Berthold Exklusiv typefaces. The classics in the collection include Akzidenz-Grotesk, Block, City, AG Book [Mobistar got tricked in 2007 into buying a custom font, Mobistar, from Berthold Types, but Mobistar is identical to AG Book], Delta, Formata, Imago and Laudatio. Frequent contributors in the 1970s and 1980s were Friedrich Poppl and Gustav Jaeger.

There are also many less frequently used older faces like Normande (1860), Augustea (1905-1926), and Michelangelo (1950, by Hermann Zapf).

Если кто-нибудь когда-нибудь выложит шрифты Бертольда Pro+ с кириллицей он будет возведен шрифтовым сообществом в ранг святого :-) Не парьтесь - не найдете. Если очень надо, крутите заказчика на официальную покупку шрифта и выкладывайте!

Akzidenz Grotesk Pro Price:$1,295.00 USD
За такие деньги покупать шрифт, в котором нет ничего оригинального (помесь Прагматики и Гельветики) - просто понты. Будет заказчик ходить и выпендриваться: вот, мол, я такой шрифт себе купил, а некто уже выложил его на форуме. Смысл?
Лучше пропить - впечатления будут ярче.

Akzidenz-Grotesk Pro (All 30 fonts - OpenType © Version 001.001;Core 1.0.01;otf.5.02.2291 , 2007)

The original sans face Akzidenz-Grotesk, the most influential grotesque, was first released by the Berthold type foundry in 1896 (as Accidenz-Grotesk). 
Throughout the years, Berthold has expanded this extremely popular and versatile family. AG ExtraBold (1966) and AG Super (1968) were developed by Guenter Gerhard Lange and are excellent choices for headlines. Guenter Gerhard Lange added more weights for Berthold including Super Italic (2001) and ExtraBold Italic (2001). In 2006, Berthold first released Akzidenz-Grotesk in OpenType.

In 2007, Berthold announces the release of Akzidenz-Grotesk Pro+ with Cyrillic and Greek support for all 30 fonts in the collection as well as language support for Central European, Baltic and Turkish. Akzidenz-Grotesk Pro+ is available in CFF PostScript flavored OpenType. Also added in 2007 was Akzidenz-Grotesk Next in 14 styles. Akzidenz-Grotesk Probe Nr. 473 (1966, H. Berthold AG) is a specimen book.

AG Book is a variant designed by Günter Gerhard Lange between 1969 and 1973. In 2006, the font family was expanded to 3 widths with 6 weights in the normal widths with small capitals in roman and italic fonts and 4 weights in condensed and extended fonts with small capitals in the roman fonts. Cyrillic and Greek were added in 2008.
