David Quay

British type and graphic designer (b. 1948, London) who graduated from Ravensbourne College of Art&Design in 1968, and after working as a graphic designer in London, founded Quay&Gray Lettering with Paul Gray in 1983. David Quay Design started in 1987, and finally, in 1990, he co-founded The Foundry with Freda Sack and Mike Daines in London. The Foundry also develops custom typefaces, marks and logotypes for companies inernationally these include a special typeface to be readable at very small sizes for Yellow pages, corporate fonts for BGplc (British Gas) NatWest Bank, and signage typefaces for both RailTrack in the UK and the Lisbon Metro system in Portugal. He taught typography and design at the Academie St. Joost, Hogeschool Brabant from 2001-2003. He now teaches one month a year at IDEP in Barcelona. He lives and works in Amsterdam. In 2009, he started selling his fonts at MyFonts.

2011: Bath (2010-2011), a typeface developed with Ramiro Espinoza for the the signage and orientation of the city of Bath. It comes in Bath Serif and Bath Sans versions.
