BLANK IS THE NEW BLACK Graphic design studio located in Chicago, IL, which is run by graphic designer Thomas Johnson Quinn (b. 1980, Two Rivers, WI), a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (2003). In 2009, he created the 4-style pixel/dot matrix family Versteeg. Along the same theme, he made Niemi (2010), Toews (2010) and Huet (2010).

In 2012, he created the extreme contrast didone face Volterra.

When he was 10 years old, Thomas Quinn could draw a pencil-rendered photorealistic collage of Bo Jackson that had people (or maybe just his family) drawing comparisons to Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. Inspired by Bo Jackson’s ability to play both baseball and football professionally, Thomas studied fine art and illustration while majoring in graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduating, Thomas returned to Chicago, where he has lived for most of his life. He specializes in print and web design, but also dabbles in painting, typeface design, and beard growing. If you show even the slightest interest in hockey, he will gladly talk your ear off about the Blackhawks.
